Hi, I'm in the market for some entry-level center and floor standing speakers for my TV and music needs. I have the Denon AVR-1611 7.1 Receiver for a 500 sq/ft room.

I saw that Newegg has some specials. I'd like to keep the total under $300. I guess I'm stuck between Pioneer and Polk so I thought I'd ask you guys for some help.

Pionner package will run me $170 (w/ promo coupons)

Pioneer Floor:

Polk package will run me $260.

Polk Floor:

Should I go bigger? Any ideas? Thx

Heya,

The Polks are fantastic, I have two setups at each of my houses. The 50's with the CS2 are fantastic for home theater & music. Plus they're cherry and pretty to look at. You can add a matching cherry PSW10 (you can find it on Amazon for $130 shipped usually).

Very best,

Considering these are both in the same class I would audition both at Best Buy if possible. BB has the TSi200 which is equivalent to the Monitor 50s (just cosmetic upgrades). The Pioneers are rated 6 ohms so keep that in mind since the Polks are more efficient and will play louder at the same volume setting.

actually the TSi300 is equivalent to the Monitor 50.

The Tsi200 is a bookshelf speaker and equivalent to the Monitor 40 bookshelf speaker.

I think they are both great choices but I would personally go with the Pioneers.

I think you missed the promo for the Pio's, or is there another coupon deal I am missing? The only deal I am finding right now is the 21 Bookshelf at $49/pair.

The good news is that they all do go on special quite frequently.

Thanks for everybody's insight. I did miss the promos, but I noticed that the Polks seem to on sale regularly. I think I really like the look of the Polks which has helped make up my mind.
Any suggestions of going bigger?

Polk 50, 60, 70?

I'd go with the 70s for that room.
