I'm planning on purchasing some speakers for installation in a public hall. It's a 100% pre-recorded music system, there is no "live" nature to the system, no dropping mics etc. I'd prefer to stay away from powered loud speakers as they are most often meant for insane power levels for long periods of time, at the expense of audio quality.
Looking at either the bookshelfs from HSU research or from BIC, they seem quite similar in many ways; both 6.5 inch driver, both horn tweeters, but the BIC's at 96 db are much more sensitive than the HSU at 92 db. Might be very useful when pared with a lower wattage amp. They are both relatively cheap too, coming in at $150 or less.
Anybody have any experience with either of those speakers, or have any comments one way or another?
