Hi guys,
i'm moving to a new place in November and just decided on getting the Panasonic 55 ST as a TV. I'm now looking to get some decent sound as well. What i'm looking for is a 5.1 setup preferably. I am looking to spend 800$ on the system including: Speakers, Subwoofer, Receiver, Cables and Stands (if applicable).

The room is 16x16 feet with two openings, one towards the kitchen and one towards the hallway. I have attached a picture to visualize it as best as possible and included the designated area for the TV as well.

I appreciate your help!

Thanks guys. I'm wondering two things: Is there a reason why the Subwoofer is not from the Pioneer series? I saw that Pioneer also offers the Andrew Jones designed Subwoofer.

As to the surround speakers: for me it would be much easier to have stand/floorstand speakers in the back as well. Could i just purchase 4 of the Front speakers you suggested?

thanks!

When it comes to speakers (especially your front left, right, and center) it is important to match brand/family/drivers (timbre matching). With subwoofers, this is not important. From what I have read the new Pioneer sub is pretty solid, but it is 8" and from the sound of it you have a prettty big room hence the larger subwoofer.

For the surrounds you can either add the floorstanding speakers, or buy the bookshelf speakers and add some inexpensive stands.

There are better sub options, for overall sound quality. You can use towers
for surrounds - however, you may need to prop the towers up a little. You
want to be able to hear, above you seating position.

You may also want to consider saving up some money for a better subwoofer. Your options really improve in the $300 or so budget range.

So buy all your speakers then save up and look for some sub deals.

Are there any other Receivers that are recommendable? The original Denon 1612 seems to be a hard thing to come by.

thanks!

In stock at AC4L, and they are a good company.
The 1612 measures better, than a lot of budget receivers.

I have a similar room set up only there are two openings to my left one to a living room and one to the kitchen. The room is the same size as above. I'm trying to figure out placement of the speakers. I'm planning on putting two towers I. The front (boston a360) which I got for 200 each. And the center channel. Now I gotta figure out the surrounds (boston doundware indoor/outdoor) I'm thinking putting them up on the wall by the ceiling (8ft)
