I am looking to add a few more speakers to my current Athena Technologies (Audition series) setup, but it seems like they're no longer sold where I live in Edmonton, AB (Canada). What brand/line of speakers would have the most similar sound so that I can at least try to match them to my existing system?

You don't say what speakers you're looking for, it makes all the difference.

Athena website is still up.

Best option is to keep an eye on ebay or similar for someone selling the same line.

The same company owned Energy speakers, you could look for something there.

There are still some floating around, try searching a little, eh?

There is also an Athena owners thread here that is still fairly active.

Good point. Right now they are used in a 5.1 setup for my movie room. AS-B1 (front L/R), AS-C1 (C), AS-R1 (SL/SR). Looking to add two to four more, depending on what I can find - think Audyssey DSX or DPLIIz. If I can find a pair of surround bipoles, I would mount them in the back behind me. Otherwise, they would go in front for wide or height channels.

Yes, I love their AS-P400 subwoofer & AS-BS1 bookshelf speakers!!!     :)     The website is down as of 2014, apparently. There's another company using that name now too. Gonna see if there are any used ones for sale on eBay. Good luck!!! Canadians know HOCKEY and SPEAKER TECHNOLOGY~~~~~

I liked their speakers, thought they had a really nice clean sound. I still have a pair of AS-B1's in great condition I use as my surrounds. There is no dry rot or cabinet issues, hard to believe after having them 9 years.

Mirage, Energy, Sound Dynamics, and Athena Technology were all owned by Audio Products International Corp. and assembled in the same facility in Canada.

In 2006, API were acquired by Klipsch.

In 2011, Klipsch were acquired by AudioVoxx.

AudioVoxx currently lists these brands as theirs : Audiovox, Klipsch, Jamo, Energy, Mirage, RCA, Acoustic Research, Jensen, Magnat, Advent and many others (but not Athena Tech). Talk about consolidation!

I was working for a company where I could get both for considerable cheaper. I went with the Klipsch for name recognition over the much better sounding Athena's. I still regret it to this day.

Thanks. I'll likely hold on to them for a few more years. For what amount of $$$ I could throw at speakers right now, it would probably just be a lateral move.
