I suggest that anyone who questions the integrity or quality of NHT speakers read the Stereophile review of the NHT Classic 3 speakers. This was done several years ago, but the speakers are still current and still excellent.
I use an NHT B12D subwoofer, which for $700 is the best I have ever heard!
In terms of sound quality, NHT is right up there with KEF, PSB etc. They are anything but cheap; rather high-priced, actually...lol. One caveat with NHT speakers is that they are sealed acoustic suspension speakers, which results in very good linearity but low sensitivity. For this reason they might not be suitable for low-powered amplifiers (under 60 watts or so).
IMO B & W speakers are a mixed bag; some models perform well, and it is well documented, from owner comments, that some are not very good. I find them all over-priced compared to their competitors, in any case.
For a pair of floorstanding speakers at that price with excellent sound quality and good strong bass, I would recommend the Monitor Audio Silver RX-6 speakers. Many owners indicate a high level of satisfaction with them.
(FYI, Monitor Audio is a highly respected British manufacturer of long standing)
As for Cerwin-Vega, I think most people will agree that they make a product which is generally considered to not meet even minimal home high fidelity standards. I would never buy one, at any price.
