you can get the full lossless audio, but just like any 5.1 mix put into a stereo setup it will have to downmix it to 2.0

depends on how well your setup handles it, but mainly It just sound... off, very off in some situations. but there is a decent quality loss in the conversion to 2.0... I've always found the loss of quality unacceptable for movie watching.

With an OPPO BDP-95, BDP105, or BDP-103, you just feed the analog outputs for 2 or 5 channels direct from the OPPO to any amplifier or receiver; it is a no-brainer.

OPPO also has the best DACs and resulting sound quality of anything you can buy at anywhere near the same price. They just blow away the competition for both sound and video.

If you are watching movies, you also use an HDMI cable to the TV to send the video there.

The Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 and 10.2 speakers are outstanding.

So far I have the audioengine p4's as my 2 speakers and I just purchased the Harmon Kardon 1700

Will that setup be a step up from the Sony ct100 soundbar

In my opinion, almost any stand-alone speakers will beat a soundbar, especially a wimpy Sony soundbar.

Of course, I got it modified with the TK-427, which cheeks it up another, maybe, 3 or 4 quads per channel.
