Installing new system in basement. Speaker cables will run both in wall and exposed on unfinished side of one wall. It crosses electic wiring in several places and crossing over them perpendicular, as i've been advised, will not always be possible. So question is should i use shielded cable, and if so can anyone recommend a brand/type? Interested in general speaker cable recommedations also.

Searched the forums and could not find anything but if this has already been well discussed just poing me to the right place. many thanks.

System is Marantz 5007 going to Paradigm in wall SA-30 speakers and in cieling SA-15R's.

I seems extremely unlikely (not impossible, just extremely unlikely) to induce noise that would be audible on an amplified speaker wire.

No. Shielded cable has higher capacitance, and speaker cables don't pick up interference from AC lines anyway.

If speakers wires will be run in wall you should get CL2 rated wire.
