I'm going to buy the Denon AVR-2113CI receiver and want to get with it in wall / ceiling speakers.

two questions:
1. Any recommendation for in wall / ceiling speakers?
2. What do you think about rear in ceiling speakers?

Some home theater setups limit folks to doing all in-wall for not just the rear speakers. So, a pair of speakers in the back isn't bad at all. A couple of questions for you:

1) What size is the room? Height of the ceilings?

2) What's your budget?

Generally you want to have similar speakers for the front left, center, and right, but the rear speakers don't need to match as much.

In addition, are the walls that the in-wall and in-ceiling speakers installed in shared walls? For example do you have a bedroom above, beside, or below?

I have a 5.1 system with B&W in-ceiling speakers. The three across the front are model 818 ($800 each) and model 684 ($450 each) in the rear. This may be more money than you plan to spend. I would caution you on using in-ceiling for the LCR up front. The sound will project downward and not outward. You may want to consider doing in-wall speakers for LCR. This way the sound will project outward into the room and may offer a better soundstage. Also, if you have an adjacent room (i.e. kitchen, etc) you will be able to hear the speakers more clearly in the next room. Depending on your price range I would consider looking at Triad or Klipsch in addition to B&W.

Just my two cents. Good luck.

1. The room is a regular size living room. ceiling is 8ft. The room is probably 15ft x 15ft

2. I'm not trying to spend a lot of money but the living room speakers need to be good. I'm thinking to spend around $800 on 5 speakers (front, center and rear). the front and center speakers need to be on wall speakers (but I want something small) and the rear will be in ceiling.
For the rear I'm thinking to go with Polk Audio RC80i. But not sure for the front and center

Thanks

Gotcha. By "on-wall" do you mean in-wall or exterior wall mounted speakers?

exterior wall speakers. I don't have enough space to use in wall speakers.

Brennan.OSD,

Do I need a sub-woofer if I'm going with:

1. front (left, right and center): http://www.htd.com/Products/flat-panel-speakers/middy-compact-speaker
2. rear: http://www.htd.com/Products/high-definition/HD-R65-ceiling-speakers
3. Denon AVR-2113CI 7.1-Channel Integrated Network AV Receiver

Thanks
