Hi. I am wondering if the Energy take 5 is better than the Jamo S 426 setup and if so by how much. The Energy take 5 is $130 from Newegg and the Jamo is $107 from Amazon.
I was also wondering how much better the Polk Monitor 40 pair and a CS1 center or the Pioneer SP-BS21's and its matching center. Would it be worth it to pay extra and upgrade to the Polks or Pioneer? Or only by a little bit?
I would take the Jamo over the Energy Take 5. Bigger speakers, bigger sound. You do know that if you decided to get the Take 5's you MUST get a subwoofer. They sound like crap without one so you're spending more than $130. I used to own the Take speakers.
I would take the Pioneer BS41 over the Monitor 40. at least compare speakers with similar sized drivers. The BS-21 only uses a 4" or 4.5" woofer.
Well I am going to get a subwoofer no matter what set I get. Thanks for your help too.
Since I'm moving to a house with more rooms, I'm very interested in the Jamos for an ancillary setup in which I don't have equipment yet. The price is incredibly attractive for a 5.0 setup, since I can't work 2 rear speakers in my main setup I'd figure it would satisfy my craving for surround. I also wonder how they are possibly priced so low -- how good could they possibly sound?

The reason the price is so low is because the color is Wenge - a rich brown color with copper undertones
You can pay more for the same speakers if you wish. I've heard these speakers at my local Fry's Electronics plenty of times. They're a good deal at $199 for the 5.0 set. For $107 its a great deal.
For instance if you want them in Black instead of Wenge it'll cost you $242 shipped for the same speakers.
Or $399 from buy.com
Haha. good point. I actually find the wenge finish to be pretty attractive. Incidentally, I do have a pair of Pioneer BS21s that I'm not going to be using anymore. I figure I could also build a system around those, e.g. using them as rears and getting the FS52, C22 up front, although I doubt I'd be able to fit the C22 anywhere in this room. Thanks!
