Since selling my desktop and getting a laptop, I've had in the back of my head that I would need something for better sound in my room at my desk. Most music listening is in my living room, but there's a huge disparity between def tech sm350s with a sub and laptop speakers.

I was browsing craigslist for active monitors as likely the best value for a 2.0 setup and found a pair of KRK Rokit 6 (not meet g2) for $175. Is this a good deal? It's a little more than I was looking to spend, but my other option is Behringer ms40 on eBay for $130. This seems like a big upgrade for just $45.

I had M-Audio BX5's in the past and thought they were good for the money.

Thanks for the suggestion, but with $175 being more than I wanted to spend, these are definitely out of my price range.

Most of my limited audio budget goes into my living room. I just need something that does better than the approx 125hz-12khz of the laptop internal speakers.

M-Audio also has a lower end Studiophile line. I have zero experience with those but they do have pretty good reviews.

I want able to catch the guy with the krk's at the right time, but that's fine since I managed to get behringer 2031A's for $100.
