Hey guys,

I just picked up a set of old JBL500 speakers for $30, and they sound great!
Or at least they did, until I separated the cone from the foam surround on one of them. It's a 10-601 with a 5" diameter.

I'm assuming the foam is just old and brittle. I found surround repair kits, but they cost $33 shipped.

Think it's worth it for these speakers?

Maybe not for me - however it comes down to you. If you do not have much
of a budget, then refoam them.

Update:

I refoamed the surrounds on these speakers, and gave them to my mom for Christmas in 2013. She's been using them attached to an HK 930c for over a year now, and they sound great!
