It probably means they're coming out with a new model so they're dropping the price on the old ones to get rid of them.

Dumb enough to spend lots of cash on this junk!

Are they really that bad, no, BUT the CENTER and SURROUNDS for the Icon and Synergy Series Speakers suck. The towers are fairly decent but the rest of the line is not.

A cheaper and better alternative to the cheaper Klipsch lines are BIC Acoustech Platinum series speakers. They have towers with either dual 8"s or dual 6.5"s AND they have Center Speakers that match with either dual 8"s or dual 6.5"s. The surround speakers are also good as well. I have the PL89's X 2, PL-28 X 1, and PL-66 X 4 and paid $980 for the 7 speakers shipped.

acousticsounddesign.com is where I got my stuff from and they are great guys to work with.

Also to go with that setup I have 2 Outlaw Audio LFM-1 Plus's that I bought 2 years ago on the Black Friday Sale and they are having the same sale now if your interested. LFM-1 Plus $499 shipped, LFM-1 EX $599 shipped. Duals of either of those subs are a great option for the price and they blend perfectly both sonically and aesthetically to the Acoustech speakers.

Hey guys, my first post here.

You are pretty much right about Synergy center and surrounds, but only when you talking about their smallest speakers in line like C-10/S-10 but C-20/S-20 or older C-2, C-3 and S-2, S-3 are very decent speakers for its size and price. Icons KC and KS built and look nicer than Synergy (wouldn't say that about towers) and look pretty sophisticated and modern.

BIC speakers offer impressive specs and decent sound, but built quality and materials are no better than Icon and in some cases even worse.

I've seen some Acoustech or BIC speakers and own F-12 and would prefer used Klipsch to a brand new Acoustech or BIC just because of better built quality and better resale.

Also, even though some might notice difference in timbre you can use Synergy or Icon towers with Reference center.

Samsung BD-C6500

Klipsch F-3

Klipsch RC-62II

Klipsch SS-1

Klipsch RSW-10d

BIC F-12

The Klipsch Icon speakers are amazing. They say they are improved over the first Icon line at Best buy from a couple years back. I have never personally heard those so I can't compare. But I've never heard a bad sounding klipsch speaker. These are no exception. I am running The KF-26 towers along with the center channel and bookshelf speakers for surrounds. I also run the SW-350 sub. Even with the sub turned off these speakers sound amazing. I play the towers alone for playing records in Stereo mode and they produce incredible sound. The klipsch horn technology is amazing and you can hear fingers sliding up and down the strings on the guitar.

If you are buying at retail, reference from avs are about the same price or even cheaper.
The icons are very nice, but knowing what avs sells reference for pissed me off on my icon purchase.
I upgraded within a year and the reference is a nice step up.
I still use my icons for surrounds for now until I move them to my living room for a secondary setup.

My theatre room is about 12x15 and is really a dedicated personal/family theatre room set up with a sectional. many people have been in my theatre room including my very critical brothers. everyone has left the room very impressed with the sound of the speakers. so for a set of speakers that is easy on the budget you will not be disappointed especially if you can score open box deals. I will not be replacing these speakers any time in the near future, and i am very very happy with them

Now if you are not comfortable with off the shelf speakers from best buy and you need higher end stuff then open the wallet and go for it.

on a side note my original 1973 real wood advents are still in my parents living room.....and the smallet particle board advent book shelfs are in their den

Good point and well stated. I have the Icon series KF-28 and I'm very pleased with them. Caught the BestBuy Black Friday deal a couple of years ago.

MY 7.4 SET UP. Not Perfect But Let's Just Say I'm Happy !!
Onkyo TX-NR809, (Klipsch-KF-28 mains),( Center KC-25), (Front wide- Primus P363), (AR-Stature S20 side surrounds).2 each Klipsch RW12D subs. HSU VTF-3 MK3 and HSU VTF-3 MK4 subs.
