Hello,

I just built a new home and had it wired and installed brackets for in-wall speakers. I am looking forward to using the basement family room for movies and gaming. In my prior apartment I had used Klipsch quintet speakers mounted on the wall in a 6.1 configuration. It was powered by a Yamaha HTR-5850 I had purchased at a retail store. They were okay but I had issues actually enjoying the surround sound as highs were a bit muffled and I could never get the balance quite right to hear whispers without explosions being too loud.

I had a local audio place wire my ceiling for 7.1 in-wall speakers but was not sure if I should go with his Paradigm recommendation. I think I am mostly looking to make sure the series I purchase will be better than what I had before, and make sure that it is a good value for what I am paying. If it is more likely my receiver that was my problem I would rather focus on getting a better receiver and shopping around for a deal on speakers. My current receiver doesn't have HDMI out, so I will end up replacing that anyway.

Below is what was recommended. Can anyone provide any input for me?

1. AMS -100r surrounds...........................................................$840.00
2. AMS-150r-30 front speakers................................................$1257.00
total w/tax.................................................................................$2243.79

Or

1. CS -50r surrounds..............................................................$640.00
2. CS-60r-30 front speakers...................................................$810.00
total w/tax................................................................................$1551.50

Thanks much for your time

Check out HTD, HSU, Ascend, EMP, etc.

Some companies like HTD, EMP, and other will let you audition their speakers for 30 day money back.
