Ok folks need some advice here. I'm trying to get my first home system goin but not sure what speakers to go with. So far I have an Energy 10 center and my wife just got me the Denon 2112 receiver. My fronts right now are some Bose 301's that I really need to lose, just not sure what to replace them with or what kind i should get for rears. The way my room is set up i want to put the rears in the back corners by ceiling, but dont want anything to clunky lookin. And i was thinkin about the Energy 10 sub. I have 1000 bucks right now but i figured on gettin a bit at a time. Any help is appreciated. eek.gif

Well, the L/R speakers that match the Energy 10 center (CB10 speakers?) would be the first step, and then maybe a subwoofer, and surrounds last?!
Why did you buy the Energy 10 center channel by itself? I assume it was because you wanted all Energy up front...

Set up #1: EMP e5ti, e5Ci, and EMP e5Bi surrounds, Outlaw LFM1 Plus sub, EMP 10i10i sub
Set up #2: Def Tech SM450, CLR2002, SLS Qline surrounds and Klipsch 12wD sub

I picked up the center because my 301's just weren't cuttin it anymore and the energy sounded pretty nice. Due to my budget i cant drop alot of cash at once so im buying bit by bit so i can get a decent system.

Pick up a pair of CF30's, we'll say $400 shipped.

The Energy subs arent anything special, and you dont have to match subs by brand. I would check out this svs for $500

http://www.svsound.com/subwoofers/ported-box/pb-1000#.UP-ZhGc1X-V

You can then move your bose speakers to surround duty, or you can pick up this Boston Soundware's, which work very well mounted in corners

You can get a pair of Monitor Audio BX-5 speakers for $750.

They will sound way way better than some of the other speakers mentioned so far IMO.

Or, if you don't want floorstanding speakers, the BX-2 is less than $500 per pair, and also very good.

The Energy 10 sub is pretty wimpy; not enough for most rooms.

The Polk PSW505 is only around $200, and it is a REAL subwoofer; 12-inch driver and enough power to actually woof instead of just puffing like the little puppies.

When you buy a center channel speaker, you really are defining your front stage to that brand and model...unless you don't mind a timbre mismatch in the front!

Set up #1: EMP e5ti, e5Ci, and EMP e5Bi surrounds, Outlaw LFM1 Plus sub, EMP 10i10i sub
Set up #2: Def Tech SM450, CLR2002, SLS Qline surrounds and Klipsch 12wD sub

I actually like the look of towers up front o ill probably go with them but what do u mean by timbre mismatch if i get different brand. I assumed different brands wouldnt be a big deal
