Hi,

I'm a Nooby when it comes to the surround system. Last one that I had was 15 years ago. Recently I purchased JBL CS6100BG High-Performance Complete 6-Piece Home Theater Speaker System and was looking for a receiver. Finally I decided to go with HK AVR1700. Can anyone tell me if I did the right choice and if it's going to work for me or maybe any suggestions for future?

Thanks

You just posted this question in another thread.

Yes, those speakers will work fine with the HK 1700.

Since you didn't provide any info about what you're connecting to this receiver besides the speakers and how its is going to be used that's all we can go on.

Thanks for a quick reply. I'm going to hook it up today once I come back home and see how it is.

I think the HL1700 is a super choice for a budget receiver; better than most.

The 3.5-inch speakers are pretty small for the main speakers (but at least they are not 2.5 like some, which is ridiculous).

You may find that you need to upgrade to a larger pair for the main front speakers, but you have a decent starter set.

Thanks. I might buy some new speakers once we move to a new apartment, but at this moment the walls are not that thick so I hope my neighbors won't complain. This will be much better then the tv speakers:)
