My son has the Pioneer towers in his bedroom with horizontal center. No sub. Maybe try the setup without a sub to begin with. They go down pretty low. His system shakes the house without a sub. Good choice Pioneers sound good for the price.

What JBL sub are we talking about?

It looks like the Pioneer towers and center with the JVC sub is the best deal so far.
Yeah stick with the 1912 then I was just asking

The pioneers are a good deal, it gets annoying constantly recommending them but there only competition is either nearly 2x the price or all in one stuff like the Energy take classic but I would only suggest those if you need really small speakers, which you don't. I'd even take the Pioneers over the Klipsch quintet and $5-600 HD Theater 600, bigger speakers are just better than tiny ones.

Idk I just like the Pioneers better cuz there like "real speakers" every all in one has cheap little speakers, plus he needs the 1912. Yeah I agree start without a sub, If you have a lot of extra dough to drop on a sub ($2-300) id get better speakers like the Wharfedale diamonds before a sub unless you really want low bass that shakes stuff or if you find the 3.0 lacking.

Sounds like you must have experience with pretty bad subs if that's all you think that they can do. That JBL seems like it would produce very nice bass. Cross it over at 80hz, and it's probably going to be better at producing midbass then the towers.

Thanks so much for your help, guys. This is what I am about to pull the trigger on:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008NCD2S4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER ($100x2) Pioneer Towers

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008NCD2EI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER ($70) Pioneer Center

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882665157 ($175) JBL Subwoofer

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1K50FA9292 ($500) AVR - Went above my budget with this since I found the current model year for a decent price.

Plus, about $35 for cables and banana plugs.

Does anyone see any problems with any of this for the price range I am going for? Please, let me know now so I don't have to cancel orders or deal with return shipping later.

Setup looks good. Monoprice or Bluejeans cable is great for HDMI

That looks like a very good price everything there. Like Browninggold said, a lot of people on AVS recommend Monoprice for cables, wires, and plugs for good quality at cheap prices.

Oooppsss. Looks like I didn't make up anything new. RTFT pops up right away defined at Urban Dictionary if you google it. Since it's definied on the Internet, we can use it, right? biggrin.gif

Careful on that receiver. I don't believe 'SunsetElectronics" is an authorized reseller, and thus, no warranty.

Accessories4less is an authorized reseller of Denon however.

You could also get this for the same price. Refurbished, but fully functional, and 2 models up.

Hey Gary, thanks so much for the heads-up! I totally forgot about looking for an authorized reseller for the warranty. I'm switching over to the 2312CI and I'm sure I will be thoroughly pleased by the performance. biggrin.gif

Check the AVS official Denon XX12 series thread (go to post #2). Batpig, who is definitely the Denon guru on AVS, advices stepping up from the 2112 to the 2312 only if you need the extra features. So if you'd rather save $100 . . .

Good point, cel4145. The only thing I am interested in that the 2112 doesn't have is the video processing. Does that mean the 2312 can upscale ANY video input (TV, DVDs) into 1080p? Sorry for turning this thread into an AVR discussion.

Yes. However, I thought that modern TVs accept a wide range of resolution and upscale it themselves. So if your TV currently accepts the input from the device you are using, then it shouldn't matter except the receiver might do it better. See this explanation: http://www.pcworld.com/article/168216/upconverting_worth_it.html

I understand now. It's talking about blowing up the picture to fit the screen, not making the picture sharper. Thanks for the help! I'll save my $100.
