Hey guys! I'm looking for some recommendations for some new speakers. Really looking for a Center, Front L/R, and maybe a sub and would like to spend less than $1,000 if possible.

The wife and I are not audiophiles in the least bit and simply want something that's going to sound good while watching movies and sports all while being able to handle being cranked up while we play music of all types. Heck I'd almost be tempted to get a soundbar just for the simplicity of it but what I've read thus far, they don't do very well with music - or at least the low ends don't.

Anything come to mind?

Do you have any speaker size limitations? No point making recommendations without more info.

How big is the room?

What receiver do you have?

If you can deal with large speakers

Pioneer VSX-1022-k for $250 from amazon or Bestbuy then the Pioneer SP-FS52 and BS52 package. You can go with bookshelves in the front if you don't have room but I like the towers.

Way better than a sound bar, I was very surprised to see the prices of a lot of them.

No I really don't have any speaker size limitations, I like towers, but if small bookcase models work just as well then I'm fine with that too.

The room is 23ft x 16ft.

The receiver I currently have is an older Sony STR-DG710.

Thank you for the recommendations, do you have a link for the BS52? I've done a search for that on both Amazon and Best Buy with no results found. frown.gif

fwiw, take a look at the ascend acoustics cbm 170se's and a cmt340 center $626.( if you do someday want to go to a 5.1 system just pick up another pair of cmt 340se's and put the cbm 170se's in the rear ) then with the $375 of the budget left over you can either run out and get a budget sub like the klipsch rw12d $350 at newegg(seems to go on sale every other week for $300) or imo save up a few hundred more and get yourself a good sub like the outlaw lfm-1 plus or rythmik fv12 both priced at $550. then down the road i would look into a better avr with audysessy to help get you some better sound in your room

i'm so laid back,i'm laid out

Its actually the Pioneer FS52, not BS. FS stands for floorstanding, BS for bookshelf.

FS52's are $100 each and you can find them at Fry's and Best Buy if you want to take a listen.

Yeah FS52 and BS22 I mean

The Polk TSi's 400's would work (500's would be pushing it and i like the pioneers better) Also a set of Whafedale 10.2's and a center would be under $1000 and the Klipsch F-20 and KF-26

Well I went out and bought a new LED TV a LG 55LM8600 so one half of this upgrade project is complete. I still haven't ordered the speakers and/or possible receiver upgrade.

I was looking at the responses and I've not heard personally ascend acoustics or HTD. Who sells them that I might be able to listen to them or are these of lesser quality speakers?

ascend acoustics and htd are ID companies and only can be purchased online at thier website. they do have a 30 day in home trial gaurantee. these are imo better quality speakers for the same amount of money than most everything in most brick and mortar stores.

I've had both Ascend and HTD products and they are both a great value, I would also look at the Emptek e55ti's and the e56ci center which I have now and are great all around performers and they look great too.
