I am running Polk M30ii/CS1 front. I recently got a MS Carnival 9 Sub and love its look/feel. I was thinking of replacing the rest but the only fronts that would fit in my space are Carnival 1's with a claimed range of 90hz (m30 is 55hz). Would those speakers just be awful or can I set my crossover at 90/100 and be happy? Thanks!

I very much doubt the m30 can hit 55 hz at a decent volume.

Set up #1: EMP e5ti, e5Ci, and SLS Q line Audio surrounds, EMP 10i10i sub
Set up #2: Def Tech SM450, CLR2002, SLS Qline surrounds and Klipsch 12wD sub
Set up #3: JBL130, JBL120C and Klipsch synergy sub

That doesn't surprise me. Is that typical or just a Polk budget feature. I guess what I mean is would the MS 1's have a real range in the 120's or are they more honest.

What is your size restriction - and your max budget? The Polk has more boom than depth.

Size is 11.5" height. (Ouch). Which rules out all of the Polks except M30 and Tsi100. It also rules out the Carnival 2. A4L has the Carnival 1's for $120. They are sealed, 85db, 90-20khz

Figure budget is 200, less is always better. WAF is key - it has to be cherry/oak to match the sub.

Thanks!

The Cambridge/Mordaunt Short company - tend to do pretty good with their speaker specs.
The Carnival 1 should be decent between 100 to 120 hz.

I would still look at the Cambridge Audio S30, if you can squeeze/stretch the budget, and get
the wife approval - and if they are not going into a cubby hole. They do have good tight bass,
and plays down to 60 hz.

It would go into a bookcase with open back, but against a wall. Shelves are 12.5" deep. Conversely I have tons of room for the center so I might keep the m30s and get a cs2/25c
