OK, hang with me here... I'm not an audiophile, I just like nice full sound. And I'm building a 3.1 setup in my office to be used 50/50 between music and movies.
I already have a Yamaha YST-SW100 sub that I bought more than 20 years ago and plan to use it for now. So, I need to add a front stage. I've been thinking about just going the easy way out and buying three Infinity P163's. Affordable and from what I heard at my local stereo shop, they sound pretty good as well. At $85 each, I'd be out $255 and done.
And then, I stumbled upon a pair of used Atlantic Technology 271LR for only $75 and a 272PBM sub for $100. Unfortunately, I have no way of demoing them until I own them. I'm told they sound wonderful. And then, of course, I would still need a center channel. That would mean either buying a high dollar 4400 series Atlantic center or waiting until I could find an old 273MC center to match.
This will all be driven with a DENON AVR-1613.
What would the experienced sound man do in my situation?
