Hi,

I am eager to test this receiver, but for now I don't have the speakers as yet. I was planning to buy a 5.0 Tannoy mercury V1/VR/VC set in a few days - but that was when I still had the RX473. Now I am wondering if I should look for something else.
My room is small (11x10 feet - about 13.5 square metres) and the speakers will be placed very close to the corners, and the surrounds hanged on the side walls, right on the corners. I hope it won't affect the sound much. I plan to buy a subwoofer too in 2 months.

Someone recommended me a 5.0 set from Q Acoustics(2020i and 2010i) - what do you think, I should prefer them?
I can't audition them unfortunatelly - but all I can say is that I dont like the sound to be too harsh/bright.
Which do you think are less bright - the Tannoys or the Q Acoustics?
Also, do you think the Tannoys, being front ported, would let me hear that hissing noise from the ports (especially the rears, which have the bass reduced due to thinner construction?

Do you think I should look at other speakers too for a better match with Yamaha RX-673?
My speaker budget is 500-550 euros. I listen 50/50 to music and movies. I prefer symphonic/jazz but also some rock. I am aware this receiver is no big deal for stereo music, so I will mainly listen to multichannel recordings/movies.

Thank you.

Hi, nope, I've eventually switched to Monitor Audio BX2/BX-C/BX-FX and I'm installing them right now. I've preferred the bipole/dipole option of the BX-FX.
Good luck with your choice.

I bought Dali Zensor 1, I was able to hear Q Accoustics but I found them too bassy when back is too near to wall - Dalis are OK even 1cm from wall. I don't know how they didi it smile.gif

Thanks for reply.

I think its because the bass is coming from the front (i am sure there is a 'pro' term for this), instead of back. Its the same with Tannoy's and many other speakers.

Anyway, I decided I am pulling a trigger on V1i's tonight. biggrin.gif

Dali Zensor 1 has are back ported! biggrin.gif But they declare they designed them to work mounted on wall and it works smile.gif

Btw, the best option is to hear the speakers and listen to them at home is even better. But it's not an option for all speakers and sellers (and buyer if he buy too far from shop). I tried Q Accoutics at home, didn't have chance to listen to Tannoys frown.gif But after I tried Zensors at home, I did not return them smile.gif
