You have a 500 to 600 dollar budget, and you are looking at that option? I would skip it.

I try to be more helpful than the post above me but you haven't provided much information. so we know your budgets, but what about the room, your preferences, your previous speaker experiences? Anything more to add?

I would tell you and any friends I knew, if i had that little information, buy a nice set of bookshelves, find a clearance receiver and add to it as you can budget.

I'm not trying to be rude, as I can see you post here very often.....

I would save my money and buy the Onkyo set before those Pioneer speakers. While they do sound decent, they are really priced at what they are worth.
They certainly did not sound amazing, to me anyway.

Wouldn't a set of Infinity, JBL, or Boston sound so much better?

It all comes down to taste, preference and choice - there will be some who may not prefer the Pioneers.
I try to weigh out a speaker in my home - and Pioneer is real popular all around > I will take the Pioneer
over the entry level JBL, Infinity, Polk, Klipsch, and some entry level PSB, Paradigm and Boston.

Now if the OP really wants to build up - then I would go with the Denon, JBL subwoofer, and a pair of the
Cambridge Audio S30 speakers.

I for sure would skip that Onkyo package - however, to each their own.

thanks guys, but my wife wont let me spend 600 on HT set up. that is why i came across on that unit for 200 including everything. but i am not sure if in the long run i will regret it buying those onkyo package. what if i will buy denon 1612, jamo s 199 at amazon and polk psw10? is that a good decent entry level for HT with that kind of budget?

You will. $200 is about what you'll pay for a worthwhile AVR. If you want to chip away at it do an AVR and a $150-$200 center, when you can add the rest bit by bit.

I expect the sub to be better than some old RadioShack subwoofers.

If $129 is your max budget, then try it out - if may work out for you.

Are you against adding pieces in time? I would buy $400 bookshelves and a $200 receiver. Something similar to a BW 685 but without the premium BW pricetag.

Never heard HSU bookshelves personally but I've heard many rave about them and no one trash them so far:
http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/hb-1.html

I've seen these recommended a lot too:
http://www.theaudioinsider.com/product_info.php?p=arx-a2-center-lcr-loudspeaker&products_id=66&

Both of those links at least allow you to build a matching set over time. I won't lie I don't know the best speakers for the money in this range. I have a pair of Energy CB-10s which are 200/pr.
I would make a new thread to ask for suggestions of bookshelves in the $300-400 range if this idea interests you.

Denon 1612 isn't the only $200 receiver btw.

Where did you listen to them at? Best Buy?

My neighbor owns the Pioneer speakers and, to me, they sound like speakers that cost considerably more. They pretty much have a cult following around here to with lots of positive reviews. You may have just listened to them in a poor room, or the receiver was not setup right.

All of them are really good choices, and I agree build around your system. Focus on the front three speakers and than add components like a subwoofer and surrounds as you get more budget.

OP it would also help to understand how big your room is and how far away do you sit from the speakers?
