My wife bought some DVDs and, when used with a Sony Bravia TV and simplest of DVD olayers, three of them play background sound but no dialogue. They play normally on my computer. Googling stuff way beyond my poor brain suggests the DVDs may have been made with dialogue on the "centre channel". We don't have a fancy set-up, just using the TVs sound. There's nothing in the TV instruction book. We might get the answer by doing an 85km round trip to the nearest Sony store, but hoped someone here can advise. Is there a get-around? Thank you in advance to any good soul who can answer this one,

Probably a setup on the DVD player but you would need provide info on the make and model of this player. Without that I doubt anyone can help you.

either that or you need to select the stereo soundtrack on each movie.

All dvd players have something called downmix in the setup menu. You just need to find that and select tv mode.
