I'm continuing my journey of surround sound and hope to be getting my center channel soon. I thought I was set on the CSi3 since this center speaker matches the drivers of my RTi4's. However, I've looked back on some forums and people say the CSi5 blows the CSi3 outta the water. They mention that "The center channel is the most important...I regretted not buying the CSi5 right away." "If you can, get the CSi5. It is far more crisp, etc, etc."

I know the CSi5 doesn't match the driver of my RTi4's, but is the consensus that the CSi3 is underpowered and underperformed by the CSi5? And if so, would you recommend I pair my RTi4's with a CSi5 to future proof?

Any thoughts would be helpful! Thanks!

A CSi3 will suffice. As far as specs go, it's the best match to your RTi4s. But I'd most likely get the CSi5 in order to get (relatively) what specs appear to indicate would be bigger, richer, fuller sound.

So even though the drivers are different, you would still opt for the csi5? I'm hesitant because people talk about making sure the timbre is of equal playing field between your center and fronts.

The timbre is the same. The drivers are just bigger.

Oh ok, and with the drivers being bigger, won't this throw off the sound? Will the center overpower my fronts too much?

Nope they wont. That's what room calibration software is for on your receiver. It'll adjust the volume levels of each speaker.

Gotcha. So if I can swing it, the CSi5 is the way to go, correct?

Yes, the CSi5 is the better center.
