He meant to say that his subs were shaking the room. I have some great subs in a 2ch system that rocks, but I always recommend 2 channels only, unless you have over $100k to spend. In my opinion, the sound is simply better when the available money is spent on the front two channels. A pair of 802 Diamonds would blow any 2+ channel system there is, unless the other channels had similarly great speakers and was set up perfectly.
Most folks I know are not going to spend 14 thousand dollars for pair fronts either.

Hi All

I am trying to complete my Family Room 5.1 Setup. The last item on the list is the AVR. I have narrowed it down to a few choices based on Model and current sale price not MSRP.
Here is my system

Family Room 12x17 / 9ft ceiling. Open to kitchen
TV - Samsung UN55F8000
Power conditioner - Monster HTS1600
NAS - Unraid server : windows 10 VM running PLEX and KODI with MadVR
Speaker cable - Knu Konceptz kord cable 12awg

Front Speakers FL/FR - B&W 683 S2
Center - B&W HTM 61 s2
Rears - Paradigm cs-lcr v2 in walls
Subwoofer- SVS sb-2000

I'm very interested in the denon
avr-x3300w based on specs and price.

Is this a good choice? Also would adding a 3 channel amp at 200wpc to the mix increase sound quality. At the moment it is in my family room. Eventually I will be building a dedicated room where external amplification will be a must for sure.

Will I be pleased with the x3300 on its own. Or would external amps make a difference even in my family room at lower volumes.
