I picked up an onkyo tx nr 717 receiver to replace my 20 year old Onkyo receiver that served me well.
I now am trying to figure out a good speaker pairing for it that wont break the bank. Our mix on movies to music is probably 40/60.
The current setup is a pair of infinity kappa 5.1 speakers, a pair of infinity minuet the mps speakers, and a Bose vcs-10 center channel and an infinity bu-1 subwoofer.
I hate the Bose center channel so definitely want to replace that. I am going to re-foam the infinity kappas.
Here's the question - could we keep the infinity kappas and subwoofer and get a center channel and rear speaker set to pair with those that would be a good match and deliver good sound? If so, what might be some to consider? I am assuming if we go this route I would hunt for some used speakers to match.
Or, do we really need to get new speakers at this point. If so, what would be some combos to look at that wont break the bank and still be a good pairing. I really would prefer to stay below $800 on a speaker set and less would be better.
I also will run another set of speakers to the patio for outdoor sound.
Our living room is 23' x 23' with 11' ceilings.
Thanks for the input and recommendations.
