Some key things you need to know:

Upgrading from Bose Companion 3
Small-ish room
Not an Audio-phile but like clear music, don't mind a small lack of mids etc
90% Music use - Dubstep - Drum & Bass - House - Hip-Hop
BASS HEAD
I like loud volumes
Budget £300 but willing to stretch further if good value for money

My room

Hello all, I was just wondering if 5.1 would be ok and sound decent when placed as the following in my room. Also how will the cables work? I do not really want them in the air or anything, I am considering the Teufel E 400 biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

Teufel E 400 is a European brand, and this community tends to be predominantly made up of North Americans. Perhaps no one has had experience with it.

However, since you like "loud volume" and very bass heavy music, I would look towards building a 2.1 setup so you can get the more sub smile.gif

An audiophile is, by defintion, someone who likes clear undistorted music.

Don't deny it; be proud...lol.

Obviously you must have a good subwoofer, but that will use up a 300LB budget before you get started.

Your budget is incredibly unrealistic to get decent sound quality with good bass to boot.

If you can get the Audioengine 2 speakers and a decent 12-inch subwoofer of some kind, that is where I would start.

By using self-powered speakers and subwoofer, you at least eliminate the price of an separate amplifier.

Just saw this posted on another forum as a recommendation in your budget range. This would be my choice:

Thanks for the recommendations.

I just had one question: IS it possible to use the Teufel E 400 when having the rear + center speaker disconnected to make it 2.1?

Thanks smile.gif
