see picture ... width of room is about 16 feet, and length is about 12ish ... do you think a soundbar would be fine? or should I get a receiver + 2 polk 65T's ?

Depends on your expectations and budget.

Soundbar would give you at least a center channel, 2 Polks would not.

AVR: Denon 4520ci, FL/R: Klipschorn, CC: Klipsch RC64ii, SUR: Polk LS F/X x 4, SUB: PSA T-18 x 2, DISP: Mitsubishi WD-73740, BluRay: PS3 & BDP-S5100, Remote: URC MX-700

I think a 2 channel with a phantom center will sound better than most soundbars in a similar price range!

Set up #1: EMP e5ti, e5Ci, and SLS Q line Audio surrounds, Outlaw LFM1 Plus sub, EMP 10i10i sub
Set up #2: Def Tech SM450, CLR2002, SLS Qline surrounds and Klipsch 12wD sub
Set up #3: JBL130, JBL120C and Klipsch synergy sub

I agree Eli, but the OP has widely spaced seating in the room so I assumed phantom center would not be an option.

OP - if it's just you, and you only sit in one place, a 2.1 system with phantom center is an option.
