Any ideas on a great 5.1 setup with floor standing fronts for Medium to Large size room? The issue I'm having is my ceilings are 25-30' tall and I'm not getting the soundstage I want when listening to music and movies a low to medium volumes.

Currently setup:
2x Pioneer SP- FS52- LR Fronts
2X Pioneer SP- BS22 - LR Rears
1X Pioneer SP-C22 Centers
1X SVS PC12 Sub

I'm loving the sub and it's show its worth at $750.00. The fronts are clear but only at high volumes and really lacking the dynamics I've hear in higher end floor standers. The center is really a disappointment, its just sounds off. Almost like it isnt voicematched to the fronts. Rears are ok.

Will be listening to Movies 60%, Music 40%.

I'm looking for clear, crisp, undistorted sound with a large immersive soundstage. I'm not really in to "warm" sound per say, accuracy is more important.

Would Dipole, Bipole speakers at the rears help my cause? Unfortunately I don't have room for greater than 5.1. frown.gif

Running these all off an Onkyo 818

WOOT!

An Arx A5 setup would be a huge upgrade over the Pioneers. A5 tower fronts, A1b center and A1b surrounds or you could go A5 fronts and wait for the A2c center in a month or so and then have A1b surrounds.

A5 has great dynamics and sounds great at any volume. http://www.theaudioinsider.com/manufacturers.php?mPath=13

I'm running a similar Arx setup off an Onkyo 818, A5s, A2 center, A2 surrounds and A1 heights. And using SVS cyclinder subs. Great HT setup IMO.

You could also look into Swan Diva setup as well. http://www.theaudioinsider.com/index.php?loudspeakers=swan-diva&cPath=21_22&
And HometheaterDirect (HTD).

With the Arx A5, A1b CC and a pair of A1b surrounds might give you enough left over to add in a second PC 12nsd to even out the freq response, increase headroom and improve impact/tactile response.

If you're happy with your sub, then are you looking for five speakers under $2,000?

The Arx and the HTD (level 3) setups would both be very good.

Might also consider ...

The Ascend CMT-340's (either 5 CMT-340s, or, 3 CMT340's across the front with two CBM-170's as surrounds). Ascend sells a pedestal stand that makes your LR mains look like towers. The 340's are very sensitive so they are big room friendly.

Accessories4less still has the Focal Chorus 814V towers and Chorus CC814V center on sale. They would also sound good in a big room.

I recently went to EMPtek's facility in Layton, Utah! I was impressed with the size and sound of the E55ti! A 5.0 setup would easily be under $2000, and it would be a very nice sounding system! I feel that their subs aren't very powerful, so I would be shopping somewhere else for a sub. Emptek.com

Focal 714V $800/PR delivered + CC700V $400 delivered + 705V $400/PR delivered. Talk to them on the phone and negotiate a $200 discount for the entire set, say $1400 delivered for whole set.
http://www.musicdirect.com/m-853-focal.aspx

Or the Focal 814V + CC814V already suggested:
http://www.accessories4less.com/index.php?page=search&search_query=Focal&x=0&y=0

Or the KEF Q900 + Q600 +Q100 from A4L.

Or see if you can call Audiolab and see if they can give you a sweet deal on the Revel F12+C12+M12 system.
