*****Mission a go. So the GTG is on for the weekend of July 20, 2013. Please vote for Saturday or Sunday above and look at the update at the bottom of this post.****

After seeing the various GTGs (NE, Central Iowa, etc.), I wanted to gauge the interest for a GTG in or around Denver so those in the Rocky Mountains can get a taste of the various high end and ID audiophile speakers that we AVS users have.

We have RMAF, but that's too far away and more formal. So those AVSers in the Rocky Mountains, feel free to indicate whether you would be willing to participate and what type of speakers you would be willing to bring. I would love to hear some offerings from JTR, Seaton, Salk, Ascend and any other "audiophile" speakers.

Speakers Available:

Philharmonic Audio - Phil 2 and 3
SVS Ultras
Elemental Designs Cinema-12
Def Tech Mythos STS
Magnepan 3.7s (potentially)
Soundfield Audio Monitor 1
four π speakers
Tekton M-Lores

Requested Manufacturers

Seaton Sound
Request for JTR
Von Schweikert

Proposed Date

Weekend of July 20, 2013

*****Update**** 5-18-13

- So the GTG is a go (assuming that everyone who said they will be available is still available).
- Over the next few days, I will be updating this thread (after reviewing the other GTG threads this weekend) with logistics and protocol for the GTG.
- Please vote which day you would prefer: Saturday July 20, 2013 or Sunday July 21, 2013.
- In addition please reaffirm your availability either in this thread or via pm.
- I'm looking forward to getting this thing off the ground.
- I've reached out to Mark Seaton, Jeff Permanian and Albert Von Schweikert to see if any of them will be able to bring or send their speakers.

You can count me in, assuming I have no schedule conflict. I would be happy to bring my SVS Ultra towers. Well, not happy, since they weigh a ton and I have to carry them upstairs...but they will be there. biggrin.gif

Great idea.

Depending on the time frame, I could bring some Soundfield Audio Monitor 1's or Phil 3's. If I can get my basement finished, we could do it at my place but that is a few months off at the earliest. I also have some Magnepan 3.7's but I don't really want to bus those around. My SAM's are down at the moment and I need to get in touch with AJ as one is crackling a bit - either a loose connection or problem with the built in amp.

I'm interested as well depending on the date. I can bring my Def Tech Mythos STS towers if people were interested.

I'd love to hear the Phil 3's, and any JTR gear.

If this gets going and there are enough people, we could contact Jeff from JTR. He seems to like going to GTGs to show off his stuff.

Keep me posted if you get some dates in mind as I always enjoy visiting Denver and have a few friends in the area. May is coming upon us quickly and I have more than a few weekends booked already, but flights can be very reasonable to Denver outside of ski season, as I just found in looking at making a quick 3 day trip to get a few last turns in at A-Basin on May 3-5th. Was soooo close to sneaking away this weekend with all the new snow.

Earlier weekends in June work better for me, but I could also do the 15/16.

June, late June would work for me. I could bring up a pair of Elemental Designs Cinema-12.

June's not looking that great for me. How does July 20-21 look for everyone? I've got the okay from the Mrs. to use my place. I don't yet have acoustic treatments and I'm not sure whether I'll have them by then, but I'm willing to host nonetheless.

July 20th looks plausible. Even more so if it's this year (2013) rather than last year. tongue.gif

I can't commit yet, but I'll keep an eye on the thread.

yeah the 20th I'm not sure if I can make it or not but I will try because I have Sunday through Tuesday off, at worse case I will bring my EMP tek system to the GTG to use so people can hear them as well and hear some other speakers as well.

EMP tek 5.1 theater setup, Marantz SR6006, Oppo BDP-95
Salk Songtowers, Emotiva XPA-2, ERC-1.

This is a horrible hobby!!  My wallet hates me, takes up to much space, neighbors want me to move, but man my house sounds amazing!

I am good either day, Sat or Sun. Obviously, we should do the day most people can make it. The advantage of Sat is not having to get up the next day for work. The advantage of Sunday is we could do lots of setup/prep work on Sat and start earlier with less glitches.

I am interested too. I posted something on Parts Express Tech Talk last year and there were no takers. However I am more interested in DIY stuff and less on uber-expensive commercial speakers. Still, it would be interesting to hear some new stuff. I know a few others who might be interested. Anything in the late part of June might be sketchy for me, we'll have to see where it falls.

We would definitely welcome any DIY speakers. I'd be particularly interested in any SEOS variants. We're thinking of doing it the weekend of July 20th and not in June. Feel free to let others know who might not frequent this forum.

So Vic, is this officially on or still tentative? Also, we should decide which day, Sat or Sun.

yeah the more details we can get the sooner the better for planning this out, that way I can make sure I'm not doing any tours with bands or any other work.
