Use: 50% TV, 25% Music (Hip-Hop/R&B/Alternative), 25% Movies (little bit of everything).
Receiver: Probably Denon 1913 or 2113 or equivalent, but open to suggestions. (Receiver separate from budget above)
Preferences: Only want recommendations for floorstanders. Yes, I know I could possibly get better bookshelfs for the same price, but size is not a problem and aesthetics are high on the list (Prefer Walnut/Mahogany finish if available). Fine with ID.
Currently using a Pany ST30 on the right wall with bed on the left and couches in between them. Plan on swapping this arrangement and ceiling mounting a projector this summer.
Given my viewing habits above, what are your thoughts on just going 3.1? I see that recommendation here a lot to allow for a better LCR set, and it would certainly make things a little easier for me considering I'd need 50' - 60' in-room runs for the surrounds (rental). I could always add them later if I felt movies were lacking, but considering I'm just using the TV speakers right now, 3.1 alone will be a huge improvement.
If I went 3.1, I figure $900 for LCR + an SVS/HSU sub. If I went 5.1, I figure $750 for LCR, $250 for surrounds + Klipsch 12D.
Let the suggestions begin. Purchase is a couple months out but I figure it makes sense to start figuring things out and audition them (NYC).
P.S. I'm not new here despite my post count, I just hated my old username and couldn't change it.
