Well I don't really know too much about speakers but I've been searching online for a while now trying to find a good (cheap) pair of speakers for a small room set-up. So far I've been interested in the BIC America DV62si and the Pioneer SP-BS22 but haven't been able to decide between the two. Which one is better for a small room and are there any other speakers I should be looking at in the sub 130 dollar price range?

How are you going to be powering them and what will you be using them for, music, movies?

IMO Polk monitor35B are better than the Pioneers and Bics in that price range.

A 2.0 set up definitely BIC DV62's. Polk Monitor 45's would be closer than the 35's.

Amazon has the Polk T15 speakers for $149/pair.

That would be my first choice.

Thanks. They look pretty solid but are a little out of my price range. Is it really worth the extra money or should I just stick with the Pioneers or BIC? I need to buy them off of amazon since I have a gift card.

So the BIC speakers are better overall? What about the JBL ES20's? They're on amazon for 129.99. Are they any good?

I'll keep these in mind. But with shipping and taxes these go somewhat above my price range. Are the cheaper Polk speakers any good?

I would take the Andrew Jones designed Pioneer speakers on your budget. Really can't go wrong.

You must decide that with your ears. To me, Sonys are better sounding than pioneers. I have never heard the Bic's.

You should try to listen and decide for yourself. Or if you cannot, then you just need to take a chance on something based on what you are hearing about the speakers in question.

Pioneers sound good but they need more power compared to other speakers to sound loud. If you have a low to medium power amp, you should stay away from those pioneers.

Im going to be using a receiver and cant really put them up too loud since ill be in a small room. So if powering them isnt a problem you would recommend the pioneers over the BIC and jbls?

Another vote for the Pioneers. They're simply amazing for the price. Stay for away from those Sony's. They're crap.

I liked BIC 62's as much or more than any I have heard up to $300/pair. Don't know abouf those JBL's. You probably won't be able to find BIC in person to demo unless its an owner selling.

Thinking of a dorm room you will probably be happy with anything decent quality with 4" woofers and up. Without the deep bass even some M-Audio AV40's or similar are great for a small space if you don't have the receiver yet. You have to go well up to get similar imaging with bookshelves, but they don't rock a large room.

Thank you. Ive decided to go with the BIC speakers since theyre currently cheaper than the pioneers and have a bigger sub.
