I'm a lowly student wanting to get a solid home audio system without breaking the bank. I was hoping you might be able to help me in finding the right gear.
I have about $500-700 to spend on audio gear... that would need to cover receiver, speakers etc. I will mostly use the system to watch movies, although I listen to a fair bit of music and play some video games. Eventually I want to build up to a 5.1 system, but I'm OK with starting out with a 2.0 or 2.1 and adding to that later.
I've been reading around and am currently considering combining an Onkyo TX-NR414 receiver ($260) with the Energy 5.1 Take Classic system ($400). Someone also recommended the Audioengine A5+ ($470) LR speakers to me, but I don't know if I can build a system from those (i.e. find matched woofer etc).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
