For my receiver I have a Pioneer VSX-522-K, and I have the Polk 6750 5.1 speaker package. There's never been a point where I though that something sounds bad or "empty", for a lack of better words. The surrounds aren't extremely noticeable, but over all I'm happy with it, but I don't even have anything to compare it to. As a musician and someone who eventually wants to get into audio engineering, audio equipment is important to me. Unfortunately, I've never really had a chance to hear a very high end HT system besides at a movie theater. At my local Future Shop all they have for a demo is mini Bose speakers.
There's a really good sale at Future Shop right now, so I think I'm going to get some new Polk speakers. I'm looking at a set of RTi A7s, CSi A6, and a set of FXi A4s (where I'd put my surrounds there isn't really a whole lot of room for A6s, and Future Shop doesn't have them anyway.) I've heard good things about a certain Klipsch sub, so I may get that eventually, but I'll just focus on the other speakers right now because they're on sale for a good price and I'll keep using the sub I have for now.
So what I'd like to know is, how much of a difference will I notice? Will I be blown away? Will I even notice a difference when using it at low volumes at night?
