I am thinking I may be better going with the amp or preamp & bookshelf speaker route. I just don't know how to start a good 2.0 or 2.1 system.
I hear things like "matching" a receiver/amp with the right kind of speakers, cause this affects the way sound being outputted from the speakers. Some terms I came across were; "laid back", dynamic, soft, "fast and attacking", "detailed", etc.
I would rather go with the less minimalist approach and likely go with a Hi-Fi setup.
I know I would be using these speakers in an environment where I am 10-12 ft away from the TV, AND also when i am on the computer-- so likely nearfield listening and usage.
I am willing to add another 200-400 for an amp, preamp or receiver.
Any recommendations for used or sale items for amps and such? Also, for speakers, I want something that isn't too large physically (but it has to be a legit Two-Way design), looks sexy/aesthetically pleasing and can make music sound good like recordings or live recordings from CDs and DVDs.
