Hi guys!

I'm trying to figure out how to set up a 2.1 speaker system and was originally going to buy the JBL ES250PBK 12" subwoofer and 2 JBL satellite speakers and a receiver, however, I've been realizing I don't have enough space for a huge receiver for my setup.

Are there any good 2.1 speaker systems that have a powerful, 12" (or maybe 10") subwoofer? Im trying to get a stereo system that's loud with lots of bass for electronic/house music, but just don't have room for a receiver.

I can spend up to $500, but ideally I'd like to keep it lower. I just don't know if 2.1 speaker systems with a sub of that size exist (couldn't find any online).

Thanks!

You have to power the speakers somehow. This means either a receiver driving passive speakers, or self-powered active speakers. What are you using as a source (what's providing the music)?

I was looking for self-powered active speakers so I don't need a large receiver to power the speakers. Like a 2.1 computer setup (I had a cambridge soundworks on) but on steroids with a 12" sub.

The main source would be input from a laptop through 3.5mm headphone jack (DJing using Traktor) or from an ipod using a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Thanks!

Logitech Z-2300 THX-Certified 2.1 Speaker System with Subwoofer

This set was the best I could find so far, but I'm looking for something with a bit more power and a larger sub to fill the room.

Thanks!

Look for something else. I have the Z-2300 speakers, and you can do better for $500. I'd look at something from Audioengine, and would also post over in a computer forum, where you might get better results.

Thanks so much, yeah I was hoping to get something with a bit improved sound quality over those, a friend has them and let me try them out.

These ones looked decent, still not quite what I was looking for but they've gotten amazing reviews.

I'd view those as being no better than the Z-2300's. I originally had the Z-2300 as computer speakers, but now have them hooked up to my bedroom tv. You're just not going to get full range, hard hitting sound out of tiny satellites and an anemic subwoofer.
