Hi there, I just moved to CA from NJ and i have nothing. I have a good job and decided i'm going to finally splurge on some quality products after being cheap on this kind of stuff in the past. Below is what I'm considering, the only question mark for me is really the speakers.

TV - Panasonic 65" S60 Plasma

Receiver - Either Denon AVRX3000 or AVRX4000. I figure this thing will last a while.

Speakers - I really want floor standing fronts. Am between Polk Tsi400, Klipsch RF28, or Pioneer FS52.
Of course, the remainder of the 5.1 or 7.1 will match.

Will this do the trick? To me, the speakers make more than 50% of the movie watching experience. I listen to everything from classic to hip hop to rap and house and play Call of Duty. I plan to use banana plugs everywhere. Which of the speaker sets is the best? From a sound perspective, can the Pioneer hold a candle to the other two much more expensive options? I'm more about quality than price. If the pioneer is a better speaker, then thats what I will go with.

Is the AVRX4000 overkill?

Thanks.

Andy

The avr is way overkill for the speakers. For entry level speakers you would want to match them up with an entry level avr unless you "need" specific features. You dont list any specific features so i would assume that there isnt anything that you really need. If you are doing a 5.1 system the denon 1713 will be plenty. It has MultEQ Xt room correction and 5.1 support. if you want the 7.1 support then the 2113 will do,

Also what kind of sub are you planning on using?

This hobby can get out of hand price-wise very quickly... What is your preferred budget? As was said earlier, you don't need such an expensive receiver.

Living Room
Samsung PN60F5300 | Denon DBP-1611 | Roku 3
Denon AVR-1713 | EMP E55Ti | EMP E56Ci | EMP E5Bi | BIC F-12

Computer
Topping TP23 | NHT SuperZero 2.0 | Velodyne DEQ-8R

Sub? Hip-Hop? Apartment? A receipe for eviction??

I'd be thinking of the Realiser A8 as a possible solution
