I live in a townhouse and about 2 months ago my neighbors moved out. I've been getting silly with the volume lately. I bring all the kids into the living room, crank up the the tunes, and we dance for hours. They really like the Hives. I'm running a Pioneer VSX-D812 through my Infinity Alpha 50's, IL25c and OWS-1 surrounds and a JBL 200 watt sub. I have the receiver set to 6 channel stereo and cranked about 80%.
Do any of you "open her up" just cuz you can? Any horror stories of blown speakers, raucous parties, evictions, or visits from the police?
This thread is to share such tales and of course to also list what you were using to fuel your sonic barrage.

Shook the house today with 'Casino Royale'; yesterday it was 'Quantum of Solace'. Testing out some new speakers so I figure I have and excuse. Tomorrow it will be 'Dark Knight Rises'.... or maybe 'Despicable Me' if the kids have their say...

If I'm not enjoying it, I sell it. Eventually everything fun breaks. Motorcycles (lack of skill), model trains (lack of patience), cars (lack of restraint), my body (all of the above)...

Can't take it with me... smile.gif

Wow, Infinity Alfas. Nice speakers. I still have an IL25c and Interlude IL40 - the center has been in a closet for 10 years (I really should sell it), the IL40 are my surrounds.

I/we seldom turn up more than reference -15, but watching A Good Day to Die Hard a couple of weeks ago while my wife was away I did crank it to reference (there is some very unique, very low frequency content that blew me away). I won't be making it a habit but I did really enjoy it. From now on I'll just say "it depends".

LOL! +1 on all of the above. I'm still waiting for Growing Old for Dummies to be published!

It is easy to permanently damage the hearing of children.

Try not to do that.
