That's what I have been wondering that I haven't received much input on. Never really knew if my Kenwood was putting out enough power. At school in Columbus its powering two pioneer floor speakers and a pioneer center speaker but I literally cant get them to play at even a moderate level without the receiver cutting power. Not really sure what the problem is that's causing it but something definitely isn't right.

Would that amp power the two CV's? And then the receiver would be the volume control?

You are pushing the Kenwood too hard, that is why it is shutting down. I doubt the Kenwood has pre-outs, which is what you would need to provide external amplification to a receiver. If you just have one source, you wouldn't need a receiver, just hook up the amp and plug in a laptop/iPod/etc.

Yes that amp will definitely power the Cerwin Vegas.

Your receiver looks to be 100 watts x 6 so not sure why it would cut out. I hooked up the CV E-712 speakers that I took out of my daughters house because they were to big for the apartment she said... I hooked them up in my garage to a 50 watt control 4 Speaker Point and turned up to 75% and all I can say is Wow I could hear down the street with good bass.

Music tested with was: Rush, Ozzy and Def Leppard.

Your amp would do the volume.

I would say like anything it will all depend on your budget. I thought you were trying to stay around $300 or less.

Would the Crown XLS 402 work just as well? I can find that one on CL for around 100, just trying to keep my spending low. It looks like that puts out 300w at 8 ohms opposed to 215w at 8.

I hear good things about Crown Amps but we currently only use a Pioneer VSX-53 to drive speakers in main living. That probably didn't help much sorry.

Also found a Carvin F1200 for comparable price. How would I go about connecting a sub with these as well?

The reason im recommending the cerwin vega or bic its because this speakers are build for larger excursions it will move a lot more air than a pa speaker .

Try disconnecting the center and see if the receiver still cuts out.

I bet they would be decent, but for your purposes I do not think they will work well. You mention you want the speakers to play loud and have a lot of bass, you need to be looking at PA speakers or some of the ones we mentioned that are designed for just that.
