Hello,

I am choosing outdoor speakers for my patio. I am deciding between Definitive Technology AW6500 and PSB CS1000.

Have somebody experiencies with these speakers and could compare it?

Thank you very much.

I’m shopping for 4 outdoor speakers for a 50x30 around my pool. I was considering the Klipsch KH0 7 but I saw a lot of positive reviews for the Definitive Technology AW 6500

Any opinions on these or others I should be looking at in this price point?

I haven't heard those models. I have the B&W WM6. It is big, but plays loud with great bass. Also, they have survived four colorado winters, completely exposed, and still work great. I compared them to a set of Paradigm outdoor speakers that looked similar to the PSB you mentioned and I liked the B&W much better.

I own the AW5500 for a small (15x20) patio. They have more than enough output for me since I have close neighbors. One of the main reasons I purchase them was that they were supposed to have good bass performance when mounted against a wall due to a passive radiator, and I've been happy with the bass so far. Unfortunately I haven't heard the other speakers on you list, so I can't comment.

You might want to consider the Yamaha NS-AW592 all-weather speakers. The shape and mounting design make for a really convenient package. I was surprised by their surprisingly decent and quite powerful presentation in our large yard. Great bass output, too. All this for a 99 buck outlay from Newegg. (Yamaha also makes a big and a little brother to this model.)

Unfortunately, I see they are out of stock at the moment...but it's worth keeping tabs on them. The $99 was almost half the price I found elsewhere.

Enjoy your Summer with tunes!

MARGARITAS,
they're not just for breakfast anymore.

Hi Petras

I have the PSB 1000 and they are very good, but you need a powerful amplifier  and high end  to get the full quality out of them.

I have tried them earlier with a Yamaha Piano craft  micro receiver  and a Arcam Solo with no luck. No I’m using a Marantz Melody ( MCR603 ) I have installed in a cabinet outside my house and this is a good setup for this speakers.

I will try the AW6500 later this month on the Yamaha receiver and I have installed in a winder garden on the outside. I hope this will work, if not I will just get the same setup as I have on my balcony.

Life is too short to listen to bad sound J

Best Regards

Johnny

Bought a pair of PSB cs1000 on sale(black, $100 cheaper than the best onlne price)today locally and they sound amazing. I would recommend them to anyone. I'm using them with an old Harmon kardon avr 130 and the speakers can handle the receiver at full volume sounding great with no distortion. The other speakers may be great too but I know you won't be disappointed with the PSB cs1000.
