The apartment I live in has some electrical wiring issues. I picked up a NES today and noticed something really peculiar. When I plugged the NES in (not even turned on), I get a pretty loud rumble from my sub. The sub is plugged into a different power strip halfway across the room. The sub rumbles even when I unplug my receiver. I tried the RF and composite outputs on the NES; same issue. Why is this happening and should I be worried about the safety of my TV and sound setup? Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

Blow the cartridge, blow inside the system, insert the game cartridge, move it left right, A, B, A, B, Select, start. , ahhh, the good old days.

I love old games ,I have controllers clones for Nintendo and Super Nintendo that I use on my PC with emulators ,why you don't just use something like that.

Sorry for being a little off topic, do you have an emulator you can suggest? I've been itching to play super mario. It's been a least 10 years since I used an emulator.

Sorry, I don't have time to go looking up stuff that should have been made clear in the first place. OP, chances are you have a ground loop.

Hard to believe you didn't have time for a five-second Google search, but you had time to type out "What's an NES?" wink.gif

Can anyone answer why the NES does that, and should I be worried about the safety of my TV and speakers? It seemed like the NES was putting out some serious feedback, and I'm just worried about it damaging my setup.

Try a different RCA cable like it was suggested, or just turn off the sub. I doubt the NES is sending LFE signals.

As I already posted a ground loop is likely. Per the link I provided the usual cure is to use transformer isolation of the audio, and in some cases the TV cable as well. Examples:
