Was searching for specs on the Rocket 33 cable for my future B&W Centre 2 speaker...and looks to me like someone hijacked the site. I LOL'ed myself for a good minute.

What am I supposed to be seeing here? I don't see any speaker cables under the speaker cable section. Is that what you were referring to?

The whole page is now full of rambling blog like crap, and the speaker section is some article about payday loans in Wisconsin?

Yeah, it looks like it was hacked. I can't even get to it now, but Google has an odd description when you search for audioquest.

Lucky for you. Now go to Monoprice or Blue Jeans and don't waste your money on cables that can't possibly deliver what they promise to. wink.gif

They are. I have a pair of Rocket 88's and love them. Monoprice cables look like junk next to them. Blue Jeans Cables are nicer than Monoprice stuff, but the Audioquest stuff is REALLY nice. Is there a sonic difference? I really can't say. If there is, I'm sure it is minor. However they look and feel a lot better! Quality cables end to end.

BTW, I've had Monoprice cables before, and I'll never buy them again. Just cheap feeling cables. Blue Jean Cables on the other hand are MUCH better quality cables, especially their HDMI and analog interconnects.

I have Rocket 33, too poor to afford 88 frown.gif

I will say people always comment on their good looks, specially their girth. I do agree that it's probably no better in performance than blue jean cables. I don't trust monoprice.

I'm still trying to figure out what the specs of speaker wire would be. Conducts electricity at nearly the speed of light? Able to stretch between amplifier and speaker? Flexible enough to go around corners?

Resistance, capacitance, inductance, and that's it. Any other so-called 'specs' and design features are marketing piffle.

Looks like I missed out on the fun. I did find this bit rather amusing though...
Quote:

One of the unfortunate consequences of building a successful premium brand is the appearance of counterfeit products. AudioQuest is not immune to this problem. While we make every effort to combat counterfeiting, we continue to see various products being sold as “AudioQuest” that are NOT genuine.

These counterfeits DO NOT meet AudioQuest quality standards and in fact, often turn out to be nothing more than common hardware store-grade cables hidden beneath an attempt to match our braid patterns and plugs.

The persons most hurt by these phony offerings are our potential customers, who in good faith may make a purchase feeling that they have stumbled upon a “too-good-to-ignore” deal. Also hurt are those who, while realizing the cables aren’t genuine, hold hope that the cables are at least “close” in quality. Sadly, this is very rarely the case.

Rofl cakes- So when I bought the CM9s I did a test ( it wasn't blind) to see if there was a difference. I took some cheap stranded copper cable (12 gauge) and used that first. Then I took the Audio-quest Rocket 33 cable and tried that out.

The verdict is that IMO there was a difference, with the cheap stranded cable really projecting the highs and mid range freqs. I felt the Audioquest was more "balanced" with a "warmer" tone.

Admittedly, I could have wired something wrong with the cheap cable but there was a difference (a noticeable difference).

I agree completely... I did a similar test but it was blind. I have a friend that works at an audio store and set up a test (this was probably 10+ years ago), he took "cheap cable" vs mid grade Audioquest wire vs some $5k+ Audioquest wire. The cheap stuff sounded bland, the mid grade AQ stuff was my personal preference (warm tone), and the high end AQ (all I can remember is that it was part of the silver wire line) sounded a bit too bright for me. I had no idea which was which, he just had this test set up and told me to pick what I liked. Bottom line, there IS a difference but not everyone can hear it I guess.... In the case that you cannot tell a difference, I'd say spend the money elsewhere. For me though, Audioquest is the way to go.

Absolutely false. The only way to do this test would be double-blind, not blind. If one of the cables sounded different, it was your imagination, or there was something screwy with the cable or with the test setup.

Lots of people hear differences, like you did, when they do an uncontrolled, improper test like this. When they do a proper test (double-blinded, quick switching), then nobody has been able to hear the differences. It's amazing how much influence our subconscious has on what we think we hear.
