+1 take it from someone who have owned a bunch of those speakers like me:
Aperion Verus Grand bookshelf: never have
Aperion Verus Forte bookshelf: never have
Focal Chorus bookshelf or tower: Owned the Chorus 806V and 816V. Replaced the 806V with CMB-170 as the Ascend is far more accurate and better sounding overall. The whole Chorus line sounds a bit dry. Honestly I got the 806 just because of front ported and robotic looking for office decoration.
Paradigm Studio 20 V.3 used bookshelf: Overpriced IMO and I'd get something new but as good or better. Granted the one I owned was V2.
Ascend CBM-170: Best bookshelves at that price and below. Basically a super accurate studio monitor. But in your application you need BASS so floorstanders like the Arx A5. But you can get the CMT-340 + stands and maybe a sub.
Klipsch Ref bookshelf: never have
PSB Image bookshelf: Owned the B6, nothing special. Bass emphasized, not your type. Sold together with the 806V when I got the CBM-170.
For $750 a pair that does both music and movies you need floorstanders and there is no other alternative but the Arx A5. Heck I think the A5 suits HT better than the $2700 Sierra RAALs. I actually literally paid $2100 to have it shipped across the world and still think it's worth it. I'd recommend something else if you're looking for pure music or pure HT.
