No, but they sure have been spamming forums lately asking for dealers to carry them.

And they look suspiciously like the Los Angeles Craigslist speakers that had plastic bowls and forks and knives sticking out of them. ..... eek.gif

Allegedly. The writing style bears more than a passing resemblance to whomever wrote the webste copy. Several years ago, there was a fellow who sold something resembling cones that one could affix to their drivers that affected the sound and came out with a bunch of verbal gobbledygook in support of his product. Like any wacky thing sold in the history of mankind, it met with some success and then kind of fizzled out. Howard Stern though would probably love to have them on his show.

If you believe there's any truth to that 'review' I'd like to speak to you about investing in Enron stock. rolleyes.gif
It's just as phony as the pseudo-scientific gobbly-gook on the Wavetouch website, none of which bears the slightest resemblance to the actual physics of how loudspeakers work.

If I had any doubt before that Mr Wavetouch doesn't know what he's talking about it was removed by reading that.

These "speakers" were listed on Craigslist in Los Angeles last year, before the guy tried to make a real business out of selling them (I use the term "real business" loosely).

There was a thread on here making fun of the ad, and making fun of the speakers - for using a set of plastic bowls and knives and forks from Walmart, well, more or less. biggrin.gif

What a loon that guy must be!

Good question. He's now pushing them on AH as well. Very suspicious. He's probably either Yoon himself or a friend of his.

Grand Teton speaker buyer's comment - --REVIEWS--

I have used this system with everything from Nola Boxers, to Magico Q1's, to Harbeth 30.1's as I love the imaging a quality monitor typically offers. The GT's keep pace with all of my previous monitors and offer a balanced combination of their preferable qualities and none of the bad. They are at the same time musical, warm, accurate, transparent, and dynamic. Also, the sound of GT speaker is very open and dynamic like the Avantgarde, but much better suited in my smaller room.

I bought a pair of the Mt. Rainier version monitors from Wavetouch Audio listed at Audiogon. 100% Money back if not satisfied so what the heck. I have decent monitors already, Vapor Audio Cirrus but am trying these for a second system, like to have small pair of monitors for another room. They wont ship till the end of next week but will post what I think after I use them a while and form an opinion. Hand made in the USA, decent quality drivers and 94db. Though the technology seems strange, I am not one to knock a product I never even heard. I dont think wave guides are a gimmick.

Certainly not, but they have to be properly configured. These are not. I'm sure one look at them would have Earl Geddes rolling on the ground with laughter...and then he'd puke. eek.gif

Whats wrong with the design? Claimed to reduce the rooms influence on the sound. If they suck ill get my money back, no big deal. I know the claim is out there. I guess just to get some attention to the add.

There's nothing wrong per se. Over many years, I've come to conclude that it's impossible to judge a speaker in any other way besides actually listening to it. All of the claims and measurements are meaningless.

Just about everything. The 'waveguides' will cause more harm than good, as their openings are so small that the wave will diffract around them, hitting the baffle to reflect back and meet the original wave out of phase, causing a major dip in the response. They're also far too short to offer any of the benefits claimed for them. The pole piece extensions are too small in diameter to do anything useful.

Thanks, but is it possible the rooms interaction could do more harm than the short comings of the "wannabe" wave guides? A couple of the people who tried these things said the speakers do sound better with those waveguide thingies in place. I guess I'll find out.

My first language is French and never pick-up on it.
And yes, it is the proper translation.

So Todd, I came back to this thread in search of info on the Wavetouch line and I'm wondering if you ever actually received them and what they're like.

Just came across this thread re: the WaveTouch Grand Teton Monitors.

Like most of you I was a "huge skeptic"... until today... when I received them and fired them up.  I'm a skeptic no longer!  They are the finest sounding speakers I've ever heard.  I have some of the best, under $20,000+, and the quality of the sound eminating from the GT's exceeds them all.

Some of the best I've heard include the Vapor Audio Nimbus (huge 200 lb behemoths), which do sound incredible - the Dave Bruebeck Quartet is right there in the room with you in a lifelike image.  Well... the GT's sound very similar, and better than the Cirrus.

Perhaps the only caveat might be... the size of the room you intend to fill with their sound.  They will do fine in anything... say... up to 300 sq ft, or so.  Above that you may want one of the larger WaveTouch speakers.

And... another would be... they do not have the "fit & finish" of... say... the Monitor Audio PL200/300's - which is simply stunning, perhaps unmatched by any other speaker.  The GT's are somewhat crude in their appearance, and of course they have those "funny little things sticking out of them."  But, if you are put off by their appearance, you aren't really interested in superior sound anyway.

I'm not sure how the GT's do it... it does seem "magical" and "other worldly."  But... "I've seen them with my own eyes" and "heard them with my own ears." And... "they are real... and they are spectacular."  Though, I'm still having difficulty believing it!

I just happened across the GT's on USAudioMart, and after researching them, decided to "take the chance" and "won!"  They are without a doubt the best audio purchase I've made in 40 years.

I challenge any of you to try them and not agree!

And... just for the record... I have no relationship to WaveTouch Audio... other than... we both appreciate "the most beautiful sounding speakers in the World" - which, they sure sound like to me!

"Unflippinbelievable" - really!
