Hi All!

Planning on purchasing the Klipsch RF-7II for the Main L&R speakers in our HT (construction due to start soon). I am trying to figure out which way to go for the Center channel. I was thinking about just going with another RF-7II, but the would put the top of the RF-7 just under the screen (10' wide 16x9). If I did this, I would not be able to go to a larger screen if I ever had the urge to do so. The RF-82II would give me that extra bit of room to expand if need be in the future. The RC-64II would obviously not impose ANY limits on the size of the screen I would want to change to in the future.

(just FYI, no plans to do a pref screen)

Any opinions on going with the 82 vs 64 ? Going with the 82 would be MUCH cheaper too vs. the 64 and have better bass response (according the the Klipsch specs).

Thanks!
Rob

Get the RF-64II because it was voice-matched to the RF-7IIs and has a larger/better compression driver for the horn than the RF-82IIs. Fwiw, if you are going to be using a Subwoofer you are going to be sending the low end there anyway...The build quality on the RC-64II is also going to be better and was made in Hope, Arkansas along with the RF-7IIs.

Actually the RF-82ii is a much better center channel than the 64ii. There are all sorts of advantages of the 82ii over the 64ii, as it is always better to not use a horizontal center when possible. The 82ii would be voiced the same as the RF-7ii, and would have less lobbing, and create a much fuller, and expansive sound stage compared to the 64ii. I can think of zero advantages of the 64ii. Of course an RF-7ii for the center channel would be the best choice, but the 82ii would be the next best thing.

I agree about having a 3rd RF-7II being the best choice, but the RF-82II was not voice-matched to the RF-7II as the RC-64II was. If the OP wants to confirm this he should call Klipsch CS, post the question in the Klipsch Forum, or ask this question in the Klipsch Owners Thread here on AVS.

I just purchased the RF-7ii for mains and RC-64ii for center from Sound Distributors (good price on b stock that has no issues other than wrong color - which I liked better:))

Just listening to music so far but these speakers sound very good together.  I am looking to add RF-82ii for wide's as I figured out my receiver will cover 11.2

Talking about voice matching is there any for RF-82II and RC-62II for surrounds ? Can I go with RS-62II or RS-52II?

All the Reference speakers below the 7/64 are voice matched and "can" be intermixed at will with good results. Best results would be to match the horn size, RF62/82, RC62 or RS62 etc...

Mine are all mixed sizes and in multichannel music I hear no difference at all. Very well matched.
