You should be looking at active PA speakers, how big of a space is it?

I would go take a look at guitar center and listen to some speakers. You aren't going to get great clarity, but you will get some serious SPL.

Another option is DIY. If you are somewhat handy you could buy some speaker kits from diysoundgroup and get a lot of bang for your buck. But then you also need amplification and subs. I think PA speakers are the simplest option in terms of transporting and setting up.

JBL speakers are a great choice for live venues. Look into some QSC's Monitors. I think they would be an ideal match for your space. The QSC k152's have plenty of power to deliver pounding SPL levels at 1000 watts. Before you go make a large purchase like that, you should look into renting some monitors out to see which monitors suit your needs. Checkout the QSC's and a few other JBL's here: http://aarental.com/product/qsc-k152-speaker-rental/ http://aarental.com/speaker-rental/
Let me know if that helps.
