I stopped off a garage sale on Saturday and picked up 3 NHT 1.1 speakers for $10 (2x 1.1 L and R matching pair and a 1.1c). These are dated 1994, so they apparently have some years on them. I checked the foam around each woofer and they appear to be in good shape. I just finished setting up my home theater room (minus the audio system) and was thinking about maybe getting these guys setup as the fronts?

Basically, any information about these would be awesome, also, since I'm here, I might as well start asking about what I could pair with these for my theater setup. 17x20' room, looking to do 7.2 (eventually), and I currently only have my old computer Logitech Z-5500s setup in the room until I start procuring speakers and a receiver.

Thanks!

Very nice and detailed sounding speakers. I used to have their predecessors (Model 1 and 1c).

3 identical speakers across the front will give you a seamless front soundstage that will sound consistent as sounds pan from left to right. Excellent start to a 7.2-speaker set-up!

I would scan the used market (eBay, AudioGon) for more 1.1 or 1.1c speakers to use as surrounds, to continue the consistent sound all the way around. Should sound awesome by the time you're done.

That's a nice set of speakers smile.gif

Might even find once you get a receiver that it sounds better than the Logitechs even without the surrounds.

Although that's not critical. While it's important for the front soundstage to timbre match, not so important for the surrounds to match the front. I probably wouldn't worry about it given how hard it might be to find four more.

After the receiver, I would also probably go with the a sub next over the surrounds. That will give you a fuller sound for HT usage.

I posted my comment after finding at least five more on sale on eBay.

These were dedicated Left/Right speakers, so I wouldn't use a third one as a vertical center speaker though because of the Focused Image Geometry front baffle. That would create a big suck-out on one side of the other.

The third one, as the OP mentioned in the first post, was the centre channel version of the speaker, which doesn't have an angled baffle.
