Here are a couple recommendations:

Yamaha RX-V673: $400, killer price for this one at Amazon at the moment.
HTD Level Three bookshelf speakers and Level Three Center: $500
Rythmik LV12r subwoofer: $600

Total: almost $1500 shipped exactly

Another system:
Denon AVR-E300: $400
Hsu Hybrid Two 3.1 system: $1166

Total: $1566 shipped

I think you would really dig either system, both of the subwoofers used are killer for the price. A couple pieces of advice, get your HDMI cable at monoprice.com. Do not just walk into a electronics store and buy an HDMI cable, the markup is huge on those things at stores. Also, get the speaker cable from monoprice too. You could also get perfectly fine speaker cable at Home Depot too. Just don't get it from an electronics store.

I'll look at your suggestions. I buy everything from monoprice, excellent prices. Now, what speaker wire will be a great choice?

I will find out the measurements but it's a large living room. In any case, I want something that can be play at a high volume and still maintain its quality of sound with no distortion.

Then we definitely need to know (a) roughly the square footage and the height of the room, (b) if the room also opens up into other areas and roughly how big they are, and (c) how far the listening position will be from the speakers.

I forgot to mention. If you guys are recommending bookshelf speakers please include a stand for them within the price set "$1500" cables and all that.

HTD Level Three
HTD Level Three Center
SVS PB1000

The perfect set for exactly $1500.

Dangit frown.gif I just realized you need an AVR.

If you couldn't possibly get a separate budget AVR, change the sub to the NXG

ORRR if you follow the advice of many AVS aficionados, you could do this:
HTD Level 2
HTD Level 2 Center
HSU VTF-15H or HSU VTF-3

Either way, a clearance Denon 1713 or ~$300 Yamaha will be perfect. Spend the least possible amount here. The first setup is incredible, the second setup is darn good. Anxiously awaiting to see if anyone has a better option!

Thank you for your response and yeah I need an AVR. All of that, within 1500 - 1600 dollars

Basically any speaker wire. Since you are doing front stage only, I am guessing you are not faced with long wire runs. I would probably just get 16 AWG wire for runs under 10 feet, and 14 AWG for longer runs.

Just buy a 100ft spool of 14ga wire and cut it to the lengths you need.

http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10239&cs_id=1023902&p_id=2791&seq=1&format=2

http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10239&cs_id=1023902&p_id=2820&seq=1&format=2

the second spool has an outer jacket that is in-wall rated if you need to run the speaker wire inside the wall. You can also use it externally.

You should get banana plugs to make the speaker and receiver connections easier. These Sewell plugs are better than the Monoprice plugs. Easier to connect.
http://sewelldirect.com/Sewell-Deadbolt-Banana-Plugs-6-Pair.asp

You would need 6 pair. 3 pair for the speakers and 3 pair for the receiver. Left, right and center.

Or just buy 12 pair since its only $7 more. You might expand your system later.

Ok. I got the measurements.
Square footage of the living room is 400ft2, height of room is 9ft. the living room opens up to the kitchen (73.5ft2) and a small room (120.75ft2). The listening distance "position" will be 9 - 10ft.

I have the ARX a1b and they sound gorgeous. For this occasion I will like to get towers, thay way I dont take money away from my budget to buy stands, but if I can get a great bookshelf and still got money for the stands I will.
Now what's the difference between those floorstanding ARX and the ARX a1b? defenitely the floorstanding sounds louder IMO.

But I will like a subwoofer and maybe a center to add more clarity. So, my budget is 1600 for 3 speakers + subwoofer and AVR

Yes the NHT Absolute Tower and PSB T6 Towers are out of the budget forgot you need sub and avr.

HTD has put the Level Three's on hold for now - they may have a bad batch of tweeters, and are correcting/fixing them

Why are you going 3.1 if your set-up is mainly for music? You don't even need a sub for music. Most music wont hit below 40hz so you'll be fine with just a pair of good speakers. A center wont do anything with clairty. What will help is your front end.

Just get a used Marantz PM6004 for $300.00 or below and the Tekton Lore's for $1,000. There is a guy that is selling the Lore's right now for $850 delivered to door. Let me know if you are interested.

That's always a good choice. Have some guy come to your house who was recommended by some other guy you don't know on the Internet. eek.gif
