I want to get the Klipsch THX Ultra2 package for my home theater. The room is about 13*26 ft. I'm considering if I really need the KL-650s since I don't ever play extremely loud; however, I like great dynamics, which is why I like this package. The main purpose is movies, hardly ever music. For surrounds I plan on 4x KS-525.

Is there a sound quality difference in 650 vs 525, or is the difference related to how loud they go? Will the 525's be OK in my room?

Thanks!

KL-650! Bigger sound stage and more mid bass.

going to throw this out there as any jtr fanboy would, but have you ever heard of jtr speakers? http://jtrspeakers.com/

large group of owners/followers of their speakers on the forums here.

pretty sure that anyone that has heard both went with JTRs, i mean i certainly did.

So did I but that was not the question. If the OP wants different speakers we can get him same or better performance for less!

It all depends on how much he is getting the KL-650's for.

Thanks for advice! I'll most likely go for 650s then. Not sure where I'll get them from, I might actually try one of the more fishy places where you can get them new for around $900. They accept credit cards and confirm that serial # etc. is not touched. Will see....

Thanks!

Send Mike Garrett a pm, his user name is AV Science Sales 5, AVS is an authorized Klipsch dealer and I know he's given forum members 50% off of list on the KL-650-THX speakers which works out to $800 per speaker. Which is a great deal.

If it were me, I would order 3 of the Seos Fusion-15 flat pack kits for your LCR's, and then 4 Alpha-8 flat packs for your surrounds. That will certainly out perform the KL-650's and cost a lot less.

Take the money saved and buy 2 or 4 Dayton HO18" subwoofers and a Behringer iNuke 3000dsp and that will kick the KL-650 setup right square in the but!

Same accurate sound quality, higher output with the bigger 650.

I think the 525 would be just fine as well.

The Jamo THX Ultra2 speakers would also work and probably saves you money.
