I don't really know anything when it comes to amps or anything to do with speakers. I have two of these speakers: http://www.maplin.co.uk/400w-12-inch-loudspeaker-220549 and the two speakon cables to connect them to an amp. I used to have an amp but it broke and I went to a few repair places but they said that they couldn't repair it because it was a foreign model.

So, I have 150GBP to spend on an amp, any suggestions?

Thanks.

I have never heard of that brand.

You could try asking over at avforums as that is geared for the uk crowd.

I suggest that you look at the Cambridge Topaz amplifier.

With this can I plug my speakers in and hook it up to my PC? and would it bring the best out of the speakers? I see that the the speakers are 800w together but the amp is only 600w. I though that the amp would need to be higher than the speakers to be able to use them to their potential.

Thanks.

Yes it has RCA inputs, so you would use a 1/8" stereo to RCA cable to connect the amp. Those speakers can handle 200 watts RMS, and 400 watts peak. That amp is more than capable and will make those speakers louder than your ears can handle. Keep in mind, to gain 3dB of loudness, you need to double to power. So if 50 watts produces 93dB, you need 100 watts to produce 96dB, and so on. You need to gain 10dB to have a perceived doubling of loudness.

Thank you for all the help. I'll be sure to pick that amp up within the next few days.

Thanks again, you've been a great help.

One last question. After looking at the amp on Google images, I can't see a speakon hole in the back of the amp. How would I connect the two speakon cables?

Thanks.

You can just buy a speakon-TRS cable or something.
