Hello,

I'd love any advice on choosing a center channel speaker. I keep reading that I should choose one that is a good match for my mains, but I don't know what a good match for my mains would be. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Also, I'd like to spend less than $400 if possible.

My mains are:

3 way rear ported design
40hz - 20,000hz
91db efficiency
4 drivers - 2 woofers, 1 mid-range, 1 tweeter

Crossover: 6000hz, 350hz

Full specs can be found here:

http://www.backoffice.be/prod_uk/Mosquito/slb402_mosquito_studio_lab_slb_402_left_right_channel_sp.asp

Thanks!

Why not buy the same brand as your speakers.

Hi Guys thanks for replying. I should have stated before that I cannot buy the same brand as my mains because the company doesn't appear to exist anymore.

As far as the tweeters, it says on the spec sheet that they are 25mm. As far as the exact brand/model of the tweeter I don't know, is there a way to find out without taking the speaker apart?

Thanks!

Build this one. It is the best I can think of in your price range.

Hi Valtyr, thanks for the suggestion! That looks like an excellent option, and I would definitely enjoy building it. Cheers!

IMHO a center channel is only really needed for HT. (Haven't found many multi-channel music that "requires" it.)

I would recommend the

* EMP Tek E5Ci for $195, or
* EMP Tek E56Ci or $395.

Other budget choices include:

* Klipsch RC-52 II $370
* Axiom VP100 v4 $340
* Polk Audio TSi CS10 $110
* Pioneer SP-CSS $100
